Programs for Women Seniors

The YWCA offers engaging recreational activities for seniors who are members of the YWCA of WNY.

Holiday Homemakers
The "Holiday Homemakers" program has been in existence for over fifty years.   The group meets every Wednesday from 9:30 a.m.-12 noon at South Park United Methodist Church (corner of South Park and Ashton Avenue).  Women in this group participate in activities such as planning and going on trips to local points of interest and providing card and tray favors for area nursing homes and hospitals. Speakers from the community also speak on available senior services.

The North Area YWCA Seniors
The North Area YWCA Seniors meet at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 576 Delaware Road, Kenmore, NY.  This is a wonderful space that offers plenty of parking, easy access, a spacious meeting hall and a well-equipped kitchen.

  • The Book Discussion club meets the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the month from 9:30 - 11:30 a.m. The members choose the books for discussion usually for a 6-month period. The cost is $2.15 per meeting.

  • The Knitting Club meets every Thursday morning from 9:30 - 11:30 a.m.  The instructor is a member of the Knitting Guild.  This is a wonderfully diverse group open to beginners to the most advanced.  The cost is $3.00 a class.

  • The Antique Club meets the 4th Wednesday of the month for a pot luck lunch at 12:00 noon followed by a speaker with the knowledge of antiques or collectibles. The yearly dues are $10.00.

All programs require a YWCA membership.  A senior membership is $15.00.
